Patient Engagement

Become a Patient and Consumer Advisor

Collaborating to Enhance Our Hospital

Partnering With Consumers: A Guide For Consumers

What is a Patient and Consumer Advisor?

Patient and consumer advisors act as advocates, voicing the needs of all patients and caregivers within our hospital.
Collaborating with hospital staff including doctors, nurses, and administrators, they work together to enhance the quality of care provided to all patients and caregivers.

Why should you become a Patient and Consumer Advisor?

Your Feedback Matters!

  • Did you notice areas for improvement during your visit?
  • Do you have suggestions to enhance care for others?

We welcome your ideas to improve the quality and safety of our services. Help us make a difference!

Who can be a Patient and Consumer Advisor?

You can be an advisor if:

  • you or a family member received care in the last 5 years.

You do not need any special qualifications to be an advisor. What’s most important is your experience as a patient or family member. We will provide you with any other training you need.

What do Patient and Consumer Advisors do?

Patient and Consumer Advisors are invited annually to our Consumer Engagement Meeting.

What happens at this meeting?

  • Members provide input and evaluation of the effective delivery of care and services.
  • Members share personal patient journey stories.
  • Participate in discussion groups to review and/or help create patient friendly educational or informational materials.

Is being a Patient and Consumer Advisor right for you?

If you possess any or all of the following skills and experiences, then the answer is YES:

  • You comfortably share your positive or negative experiences as a patient or carer.
  • You bring a positive attitude to discussions.
  • You maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • You can avail yourself once a year to attend the annual committee meeting.
